About Company

Debbie and Storm Smith, own and operate Creative Heartworks, a home-based business located in the suburbs of Portland, Oregon, that utilizes the talents, gifts and experiences of both individuals.  Since its establishment in 1997, by Debbie (an artist) and Storm (a photographer), Creative Heartworks has included art and photography in its products and services. Debbie runs and operates the business since Storm has a full-time job.

Debbie Smith Bio

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Debbie spent most of her life living along or near the Gulf Coast, including 12 years in New Orleans, Louisiana.   Her journeys have taken her throughout the states and to Europe, Mexico, Israel and India.  She also traveled to Egypt numerous times and had the opportunity to live there for one year in 1989-90.

 

While studying art in college, Debbie received instruction in all mediums and most styles.  Although she enjoyed using oils and watercolors, she found her greatest satisfaction came when using charcoal, pencil and pastels to create realistic art, which she still favors today.  Her commissioned portraits and original art can be found in homes and businesses throughout the states.

 

As an artist, fine art printmaker, former gallery director and many years employed as Executive Assistant to CEOs of large corporations, Debbie has a wide breadth of experience and the wonderful gifts of being logical and organized, and also intuitive and creative.   See Studio Donatello Art Gallery.

Storm Smith Bio

Storm Smith's photographic work centers around his interest in nature.  But, more than just panoramic record shots, his lens looks closer at the art that nature provides.  It's the curve of a tree trunk, the frothing of white water around a moss-covered rock, or a colorful red leaf amid a sea of green grass that captures his interest.  While not actually abstract, the closer look at nature provides the viewer an opportunity to visually “step into nature” and spend a moment experiencing the texture, flow, and color that surrounds us all. 

Storm's background is in broadcast journalism.  For more than 20 years, he reported news for radio and television stations in Arkansas and Oklahoma.  He spent another five years producing video projects in Dallas, Texas.  His photographic work has been featured in printed sales materials, brochures, web sites, billboards, and newspaper reports. 

For the past 12 years, Storm has worked in public education and media relations for local fire departments.  He is currently the Public Information and Education Officer for Hillsboro Fire Department.

Our home and business is located in the Genesis Loop Neighborhood off 115th Avenue and Gaarde Street in Tigard, Oregon.
