Luciano Monetti

Acrylic and Oil on Canvas
Biography

Luciano Monetti grew up in Livorno, Italy, in the heart of the Tuscan region, and experienced the many hardships created during World War II.  As a child in the mid-1940s, he began painting and would often bicycle into the country taking with him his palette and canvas to paint the surrounding landscape. Perhaps it was in this tranquil setting that Luciano would make peace with the difficulties he had endured in his young life, and capturing the lovely scenes on canvas would offer a lasting memory of the solace he found there.

In 1961 Luciano moved to Portland, his wife Mary’s hometown, where they started a family and he settled into a career in dental technology.  Blessed with a beautiful family and a very successful career, Luciano continued to paint as often as time allowed.  However, after selling his dental lab and retiring, Luciano resumed painting with a great passion.

With an endless love for peaceful settings, Luciano’s paintings often depict serene scenes found in nature. Using colors that range from bold primary reds, blues and yellows to softer hues of grays and browns, he captures each scene in a way that expresses his appreciation for the exquisite beauty he finds in quiet places.  More often than not, the tranquil scenes of Luciano’s paintings leave the viewer with a peaceful feeling within and admiration for the way this artist expresses life’s simple beauty on canvas.
